Texture Photography
Texture is the details on the surface of an object, whether they are soft, hard, flat or smooth.
In both Photography and in art, texture is used in the same way: to make an impact.
I plan on taking texture photos by finding subjects with interesting surfaces, like a pillow, a person’s hair, a rug, the grass.
Texture photography is a technique used to create an impact in a photo using different textures. Texture is the surface detail of an object. So many things have different textures; the grass, a soft or fuzzy blanket, a dog's fur, a person's hair, a wall, the ground. Using texture in photography is a way to draw attention to an image because it is eye-catching and interesting to look at. There are three main types of texture photography: detail, drama, and information. Detail texture photography focuses mainly on the details of the subject. Drama texture photography uses texture to add drama to the photo, not necessarily using it as the subject. Lastly, information texture photography uses texture to communicate information about a photo. If done correctly, texture can have a similar impact as bold colors and lines do in photographs.
